God forbid a woman fast - given the arc of human evolution, our way of life is a new minuscule blip; Our DNA was shaped by a millennia of feast and famine, not convenience, constant snacking or chronic full stomach. Yet in today’s culture, women are warned away from fasting, as if stillness, emptiness and renewal were threats to our power, rather than deep sources of it.

Over the years, I have found when I eat is just as powerful as what I eat. I do as little as intermittent fasting daily, all the way up to once a month I am now stepping into extended fasting for intentional cellular renewal. I do extended fasting around day 6 - 12 of my cycle.

When I fast I am not just skipping food, I am unlocking my body’s potential and innate healing intelligence:

  • for cellular renewal

  • to clean up damaged cells (autophagy)

  • reduce inflammation

  • improve insulin sensitivity and cognition

  • for mitochondrial rejuvenation

  • metabolic recalibration

  • to slow my speed of aging

(disclaimer: please speak with your doctor or medical professional before engaging in any protocols, including fasting. This is simply what I do)

Fasting Protocol

The key with fasting is to not have carbohydrates or protein - especially for autophagy, senescent cell clearance and metabolic recalibration. Protein and carbs break fasting by:

  • activating mTOR: signals growth instead of repair mode

  • spike insulin: shuts off fat burning and autophagy

  • halt cellular recycling

  • shift the body out of regenerative state

daily fasting

I practice intermittent fasting 16-18 hours

monthly fasting

Once a month, I do a 24 to 36 hour fast and couple it with:

Senolytic Fasting Protocol

Senescent cells are often referred to as “zombie cells”. They are old or damaged cells that have stopped dividing but refuse to die. In small amounts they help with wound healing. But when they accumulate with age, they linger in tissues and secrete harmful inflammatory compounds leading to:

  • wrinkles and skin aging

  • joint pain

  • accelerated aging

  • metabolic dysfunction (fatty liver, insulin resistance, glucose instability)

  • immune exhaustion (your body struggles to clear them)

  • chronic inflammation

  • cognitive decline

  • blocked stem cell activation (impaired muscle repair, skin turnover, gut lining renewal, overall tissue youthfulness)

To clear senescent cells, I use fisetin (derived from strawberries) and quercetin (from onions) - two senolytic antioxidants shown to help the body target and clear senescent cells - and adjacent to an acute fast of 24 to 36 hours.

Why senolytic antioxidants can matter, they:

  • restore cell function

  • reduce inflammation

  • improve tissue function

  • slow biological aging

Protocol: 24-36 hour senolytic fast

Day 1 | Clearing Senescent Cells with Senolytic powerful antioxidants:

  • upon waking: I take systemic enzymes on an empty stomach - fibrenza and nattokinase (break down fibrin, biofilm and inflammation)

  • 30 to 60mins later: optional black coffee

  • morning: senolytic antioxidants with a spoonful of olive oil for absorption

-fisetin: split into 2 doses, take the first dose now

-quercetin: take full dose

  • around 3pm: I take my second half of fisetin (with a spoonful of olive oil)

  • optional to break fast at 24h: I usually break with fruit

  • evening: I take this magnesium to flush everything whether I break fast at 24h or not

Day 2 | Refeed:

  • upon waking: charcoal (binds cellular debris and toxins)

  • 1.5 hours later: systemic enzymes (fibrenza and nattokinase)

  • 30 to 60mins later: my 6 longevity drinks (please see eating protocol)

  • 1 hour later: light raw breakfast, refeed
